Many people find they've been wearing the wrong size for years, often because the measurement process seems confusing or because they haven't checked their bra size in a long time and their body has changed. Getting it right makes all the difference. Once you know your bra size, you're better equipped to find the best bra for your body type.
A 34F bra size represents two specific measurements that work together to give you the right fit. The number "34" refers to your band size, or the measurement around your ribcage just below your breasts. The letter "F" indicates your cup size, which represents the difference between your bust measurement and your band measurement.
When you see 34F, it means your ribcage measures approximately 34 inches around. There's a 6-inch difference between your bust and band measurements. You need a bra with a 34-inch band and F-sized cups.
This size falls within the full-bust category. Finding bras that provide proper support without sacrificing comfort becomes particularly important. The right bra should feel like it's working with your body, not against it. You shouldn't spend your day adjusting straps or feeling constricted.
Getting accurate measurements at home requires just a few simple tools and steps. You'll need a soft measuring tape (the kind used for sewing works perfectly), a mirror, and ideally a non-padded, well-fitting bra to wear during measurement.
Measuring Your Band Size:
Stand straight with your arms at your sides. Wrap the measuring tape around your ribcage, directly under your breasts. Keep the tape level and snug but not tight.
Measuring Your Bust Size:
Keep the measuring tape at the fullest part of your breasts and make sure the tape stays parallel to the floor all the way around. Don't pull too tight. The tape should rest gently against your body.
Calculating Your Cup Size:
For an easy and accurate result, use our bra size calculator. Simply input your band and bust measurements, and the calculator will instantly determine your bra size.
Sister sizes offer alternative options when your exact size isn't available or when you're between sizes. These sizes have different band and cup combinations but hold approximately the same volume of breast tissue.
For 34F, your sister sizes are 32FF/G (smaller band, larger cup) and 36E/DD (larger band, smaller cup).
Sister sizing works because as band size increases, cup volume decreases, and vice versa. If a 34F feels too loose in the band, try a 32FF. If the band feels too tight, a 36E might work better.
Knowing about sister sizes helps when shopping different brands with varying size ranges, adjusting for weight fluctuations, or finding the most comfortable fit for your body.
Women who wear 34F fall into the fuller bust category still have a relatively small band size which can result in some specific fit challenges.
Band riding up: When your band climbs up your back, it usually means the band is too large. The band provides 80% of your support, so it needs to fit snugly. Try tightening the hooks or moving down a band size to 32FF.
Spillage or cutting in: If breast tissue spills over the top or sides of your cups, the cups are too small. This creates an uncomfortable line and indicates you need larger cups or a different cup shape that better accommodates your breast tissue distribution.
Gapping at the top: Empty space at the top of cups doesn't always mean the cups are too big. Sometimes it indicates a shape mismatch. You might need cups with less coverage at the top or a different style that better matches your breast shape.
Center gore not sitting flat: The center piece between the cups should rest flat against your sternum. If it floats away from your body or digs in uncomfortably, you might need a larger cup size or a different wire shape.
Strap issues: Straps that dig in or constantly fall off indicate fit problems. While straps shouldn't carry the weight of your breasts, they should stay in place comfortably. Adjustable and convertible straps offer flexibility for different outfits and comfort preferences.
Different occasions and outfits call for different bra styles. Having variety in your drawer means you're always comfortable and confident.
CrossOver Bra: Our best-selling CrossOver Bra features full-coverage cups, which are ideal for a larger cup size, and sturdy underwire-free technology that uses supportive bonding and wide bands to give comfortable lift. The cups fully encase breast tissue, preventing spillage and providing a smooth silhouette under clothing. For an even more precise fit, try the CrossOver Contour Bra.

CloudEmbrace Bra: Because the CloudEmbrace Bra features cup and band sizing, it's ideal for a 34F bra size, since you can optimize for a smaller band and larger cup and be certain you'll get the optimal fit in both. Sturdy foam cups add extra support.

SoftForm Bra: The SoftForm Bra is our most full-coverage option, which is great for the fuller chest of a 34F, and it features buttery soft yet comfortably compressive fabrics that provide all-day support. This bra's seamless, hardware-free design makes it look completely invisible under even the tightest clothing.
