Bra size chart

If your current bra is almost a perfect fit but you're still having minor issues (for example, the band is slightly too tight or the cups are just a bit loose), you can use this bra size chart to find your sister size.

Bra size chart organized by band size (columns) and cup volume (rows). To find your sister sizes, locate your current size and look across the row. All sizes in the same row have the same cup volume but different band sizes. Moving down increases cup volume. Moving right increases band size.

First, locate your current bra size on the chart. Then, identify your fit issue.

If your band is too tight but your cups fit well, you'll want to move one box to the right on the bra size chart. For example, if you started at a 32D, you would move to a 34C. This new size will give you a bigger band without increasing the cup capacity.

If your band is too loose but your cups fit well, you'll move in the opposite direction. So, if you were originally a 32D, you'd move left on the bra size chart to land at 30DD. This new size will result in a tighter fitting band, but the volume of the bra cup will stay the same.

How to use the bra size chart

If the band fits well but the cup isn't quite right, that's when you'll move vertically on the chart. Move up the chart for a smaller cup size, and move down the chart for a bigger cup size. Vertical movement on the bra size chart keeps the band the same size but modifies the volume of the cups.

To change both the band and cup size, you'll move diagonally on the chart. Move diagonally down and to the right on the chart for a bigger band and cup. Move diagonally up and to the left for a smaller band and cup. For example, if I'm a 32D but want a bigger band and cup, I would land at a 34D. If I wanted a smaller band and cup, I would move up to a 30D.

Bra size chart for cup size

Cup size, which is represented by the letter within a cup and band bra size, is calculated by taking the difference between your bust measurement and band measurement. To find your cup size, first measure your bust at the fullest part of your chest, then measure your underbust, right where your bra band would sit.

Next, subtract your underbust measurement from your bust measurement. For example, my bust measurement was 32, and my underbust measurement was 28, my resulting number would be 4. Locate your number on the chart below to determine your bra cup size.

Bra size chart for cup and band to alpha size conversions

Some bras, especially wireless bras that have flexible cups, come in alpha sizing (XS, S, M, L, XL, 1X, 2X, 3X). If you only know your cup and band size, it can be difficult to know which alpha size is the best fit for you. First, use our bra size calculator to determine your cup and band size. Then, use your cup and band size to locate your alpha size on the chart.

Bra fitting problems and solutions

If your bra moves up your back or sides when you lift your arms, the band is too loose.

You have gapping in the cups

If your breast tissue isn't filling up the entire space of the bra cup, you'll need to go down in cup capacity.

Your straps are slipping

If your straps are sliding off your shoulders, you either need to tighten them or consider going down a size.

Breast spillage

If the bra cup is cutting into your breast tissue or your breasts are popping out from under the bottom of the cup, you probably need to size up.

The gore isn't sitting flush

The front center part of the bra band should lie flat against the skin. If there's a lot of space, that's a sign you're in the wrong size.

The band is riding up

If your bra band is riding up your back, this is a good indication that the bra you're wearing is too small.

The bra is leaving red marks and hurts

Your bra should never be uncomfortable. Red marks or pain are indicators that your bra is too small.
